Frederick Breathe Free Sinus & Allergy Centers relieves sinus problems in 'a cost-effective, patient-centered, satisfying way'

People don’t need to subject themselves to suffering through the many life-limiting symptoms that sinus conditions can cause, according to Dr. Jamie Oberman of Frederick Breathe Free Sinus & Allergy Centers.
Balloon sinuplasty, also referred to as "balloon catheter dilation surgery," is a procedure used to clear blocked sinuses that was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2005.
“Now that we have these minimally invasive approaches, it just gives us another tool in our armamentarium to address (a patient's) maladies in a cost-effective, patient-centered, satisfying way,” Oberman said.
The procedure is often recommended for people with chronic sinusitis after other treatments for their condition have been ineffective. Balloon sinuplasty is fairly straightforward, and reported complications are negligible, as there is no cutting or removal of bones or tissue. The surgery does carry similar risks, however, to other types of sinus surgery.
“I was the very first person in all of the state of New Jersey to perform the ClariFix procedure, which is the cryoablation. It's a freezing of the posterior nasal nerve to address what's called vasomotor rhinitis, as well as allergic and nonallergic rhinitis,” Oberman said. “Prior to that, we only had topical medicines to address those problems, and a lot of folks either don't respond to those meds or are not compliant or just don't tolerate instilling topical medicines in their nose.”
After having a balloon procedure, most people return to their daily activities within days, and some people are even able to drive themselves home. You can evaluate your symptoms by visiting the clinic's website to find out if you could benefit from getting treatment.
